The Recollections Series follows my beloved Dutch rabbits as they navigate through my childhood self-reflections and wistful memories.
Inquisitive Innocence
The first painting in the series gently ushers us to the island of memories and presents us with the opportunity to transverse through the keyhole of time. Creating this painting revived a moment from my youth when my sister and I decided to ride our bicycles down our country road to follow after a hot air balloon and its chase vehicle. We stumbled upon the balloon nestled within a secluded grassy pasture, and with cautious curiosity, joined the landing party’s celebration.
Nostalgic Souvenirs
The second painting in the series encapsulates treasured experiences and objects of my youth, which are dispersed within drifting bubbles across a vast night sky. As a child, I was always captivated by the reflections I could see within bubbles and the play of colors as they drifted through the sky. Creating this painting allowed for the bubbles and my memories to merge together symbolically, reminding me of what is temporary, fragile, sensational, and valuable.
